Violetland

After all these rather complex strategy games mentioned recently, it's time for something really arcade-ish. Violetland is pure shooting fun with a few interesting twists. The goal is to survive an onslaught of various enemies by picking up weapons, leveling up skills and keeping track of many objects simultaneously. It's entertaining to play and skills and various weapons adds some strategy to an otherwise quite repetitive game. Graphics are not advanced, but well made and there is a decent feel of polish. The only thing this game really lacks is a multiplayer mode. Gunning down monsters together with friends would have been a lot more fun.
